2. IMPROVE CIRCULATION

A study by Lohman et al at Loma Linda University demonstrated that whole body vibration [Power Plate] can improve skin blood flow significantly more than weight training or standard exercise alone.

3. INCREASE FLEXIBILITY

A study by Fagnani et al demonstrated that Power Plate can improve flexibility without any loss to explosive power. Over the course of 8-weeks, athletes were randomly split into two groups, one group simply standing on the Power Plate 3 times per week and the other adapting no lifestyle changes. The study indicated that the Power Plate group displayed significant increases in flexibility and knee strength, both of which can prevent muscle-tendon injuries.

4. IMPROVE BALANCE

A study by Ritzmann et al found that when two groups were given an identical exercise regimen, the group that completed their exercise regimen on a whole body vibration plate (Power Plate) saw a 13% increase in balance control compared to a 6% increase in the group that completed the exercises on the ground. Working out on a powerplate doubled the gains in balance seen by the participants (13% vs 6%). A review of 15 studies demonstrated that Power Plate use in those over 50 years of age significantly reduces fall risk.

5. IMPROVE BONE DENSITY

Dionello et al conducted a review of 12 studies on whole body vibration and its effects on bone mineral density. Improvements in bone mineral density were shown in postmenopausal women who used Power Plate beyond what could be attributed to medication. “In an independent study of 116 women, the group using the Power Plate saw a 4.3% increase in bone density while the group that did not use Power Plate lost 1.9% in bone density (Menopause Review).”

6. ACCELERATE WEIGHT LOSS

A study conducted by Vissers et al demonstrated that Power Plate can reduce visceral (abdominal) fat up to twice as much as a standard exercise program or diet alone. The study placed participants in 4 groups - diet alone, diet + exercise, diet + Powerplate, and no intervention. After six months, the Power Plate group had lost twice as much visceral fat as the other groups, and were able to maintain this loss for a longer period of time. Visceral fat is an important health measure as it can lead to heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes.

A literature review by Qiu et al of over 14 randomized controlled trials studying the effects of whole body vibration [Power Plate] on knee osteoarthritis concluded that “low-frequency and high-frequency whole-body vibration had additional positive effects compared with strengthening exercises alone on pain, knee extensor muscle strength, and physical function in individuals with knee OA.
