Lower Your Blood Pressure With Power Plate and BEMER
Blood pressure is an important measure of health. Hypertension, or elevated blood pressure, can cause a host of health problems, including cardiovascular disease. Stiffness in your arteries contributes to high blood pressure.
Research has shown that moderate exercise, at least 30 minutes a day, can lower blood pressure and reduce arterial stiffness. But, what about whole body vibration? Is it effective at lowering blood pressure? And is it better at doing so than traditional forms of exercise?
More than six independent studies published within the past 10 years have documented a link between whole body vibration and lowered blood pressure(1).

One study by Figueroa et al examined the effects of a six week whole body vibration training program on young obese women and found significant improvements in arterial stiffness and blood pressure(2). A second study examining the effects of whole body vibration blood pressure in post-menopausal women also found significant improvements(3).
A third study, published by Florida State University studied the effects of whole body vibration on stroke survivors with paralyzed lower limbs. Participants’ condition prohibited them from doing traditional exercise. However, using Power Plate and performing no more than a basic squat, they still received the benefit of lower blood pressure (4).
"This latest study dramatically reinforces what researchers have believed for a decade," says John Jaquish, Ph.D., chief science and technology officer for Performance Health Systems, maker of Power Plate. "Whole body vibration has blood pressure lowering benefits that transcend those of conventional exercise (5).”

Similarly, Bemer can provide blood pressure improvements for those dealing with hypertension. A randomized controlled trial published in the Blood Pressure Journal in 2020 showed that “Subjects [in the PEMF/Bemer group] with resting hypertension (SBP ≥140 mmHg)...had significant reductions in SBP, DBP and MAP when compared to [the control group] with hypertension (n = 9) (p < .05). In this sub-group analysis, PEMF demonstrated lowered peak SBP (p = .04) at a given exercise load (p = .40) but SHAM did not (p > .05). Conclusion: PEMF may…improve [blood pressure] at rest and during exercise….This beneficial effect appears to be more pronounced in subjects with existing hypertension (6).”
“Subjects [in the PEMF/Bemer group] with resting hypertension (SBP ≥140 mmHg)...had significant reductions in SBP [systolic blood pressure], DBP [diastolic blood pressure] and MAP [mean aterial pressure] when compared to [the control group] with hypertension.”
We have seen this to be true in our own Fit For You clients as well. One client recently told us that his blood pressure has dropped 7 points after only a few weeks training on Power Plate and Bemer! This is what we love to hear, and why we opened Fit For You.
If you are already using Power Plate, keep it up! If you haven’t yet joined us on this journey to better health, call us today!
